Embarrased By Public Outburst On NCP Corporator Kalawati Mahale, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik Asks NMMC to Stop Vertical Parking On Garden In s

September 24, 2008,
After the residents of Sector 17, Vashi out-lashed their corporator Kalavati Mahale for failing to save a garden in Sector 17, Vashi, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik came to their rescue and assured that no vertical parking will be built on the garden.
Recently NMMC came up with the idea of constructing a vertical parking lot in a garden at Sector 17, Vashi, which is the only garden in sec 17 Vashi. Soma Kumar – a pioneer in the protest spoke to us on the need for open spaces.
When this news dawned upon the residents, they called for rallies to unite residents to fight against this anti-environmental decision of NMMC. At the meet held this Sunday, in a very embarrassing moment for the politicians present, residents attacked their Corporator Kalawati Mahale for failing to speak up for the cause of environment and residents when such a proposal was tabled at NMMC Standing Committee and General Body Meet.
In fact all the residents of Sector 17 present during the rally criticized NCP local leaders Ram Vichare, Shampat Shiwale, Congress’s Sudarshana Kaushik and specifically NCP Corporator Kalavati Mahale for being a complete failure. When we spoke to them about the public outburst, while Sudarshana Kaushik accepted their mistake, Ram Vichare feigned to acknowledge the same.
On the other hand, NCP Corporator Kalavati Mahale, who residents say hardly raises any of the Sector 17, issues blamed the residents for the problem. Clearly embarrassed with how the public attacked the corporator at this public rally, NCP began image correction and when a delegation of grieved residents met Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik, the leader assured that the plan for multi-storeyed parking would be cancelled.
This is one of the many instances that expose how several NCP corporators fail to work for the interest of the resident. Most NCP corporators work in nexus with contractors to moot up projects to get their own share of profits. Like in this case where the Navi Mumbai NCP Supremo Ganesh Naik had to come in to the rescue of the residents of sec 17. Hopefully the ruling NCP front will wake up to this before the next municipal actions before Ganesh Naik’s attempts becomes a case of a little too less, a little too late.
