'It's not rebellion, but opportunism'

Even as Congress leaders from Navi Mumbai have gone rebellious by forming Navi Mumbai Vikas Alliance, Thane District Guardian Minister and sitting legislator from Belapur Ganesh Naik refused to even consider it as rebellion since the candidates have not yet filed the nomination papers. "I will not call it rebellious, because they have not filed the nomination papers and even after filing the papers, they can withdraw the same. If these people stick to their stand even after withdrawal date, then I will consider them as rebels," Naik said. He also said the people believing in party values will not take such steps since high commands of both the parties have taken seat sharing decision together. "Few days back, Navi Mumbai Congress leaders approached me to insist that I should be contesting from Airoli. I told them that they should express their opinion to their party high command and we will put forth our point of view to our party high command whose decision will be obligatory to us," added Naik. Similarly, he said if the seats would have gone to Congress, he would have not approved rebellion in Navi Mumbai NCP. "This decision is given by party high command and in alliance there is bound to be injustice on someone. Therefore, rebellion is not the solution. It's democracy and any one can contest the election either through some party or as an independent," Naik said.
When questioned about family dynasty being practiced in politics, Naik said, "Apart from creating their own identity, both of my sons Sanjeev and Sandeep have worked for party and on basis of that social work, Sandeep has demanded ticket. Now, it's up to the party bosses to decide whether he is eligible for the same. However, we will support the candidate which will be fielded by the party."
