NCP leadership will strive for development of city

Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has said that even if NCP got two seats less after its alliance with Congress as compared to last elections, it is the duty of the party to keep Maharashtra united. "I am sure that our party leaders will do it successfully," Pawar said while addressing Mathadi workers on the occasion 76th birth anniversary celebrations of Mathadi leader and former MLA late Annasaheb Patil on Friday at Onion Potato Market, Vashi.
Asking the workers to vote for NCP candidates Ganesh Naik and Sandeep Naik during October 13 assembly elections, Pawar said, "We are here to create leadership which will benefit Mathadi workers, the leadership that will strive for the development of Navi Mumbai on all fronts."
The party ticket was given to Sandeep Naik, the younger son of Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. "Narendra Patil is indeed a strong leader but the right things will take place at right time. Let the time come and he will surely get what he deserves," Pawar said.

Thane District Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik also filed his nomination as NCP candidate from Belapur in the presence of huge number of supporters

Besides corporators, NCP MLC Manda Mhatre, Mathadi leader Narendra Patil and sitting MP and his elder son Sanjeev Naik also accompanied Naik at Konkan Bhavan. Naik, who has served two terms as MLA would be contesting from Belapur while his younger son Sandeep will contest from Airoli. "We will be victorious in both seats since we have been in the forefront of the development in Navi Mumbai," Ganesh Naik said.
On the same day, Sandeep Naik, the Standing Committee chief of NMMC filed the nomination from Airoli constituency at Saraswati Vidyalaya, Airoli as NCP candidate. "Mathadi leader Narendra Patil, MLC Manda Mhatre, corporators and people from all caste and religions accompanied me. I would request to exercise their franchise in the favour of the right candidate," Sandeep added. Nerul-based Mahesh Khare and Seawoods-based Sukumar Killedar also filed their nomination papers .

'It's not rebellion, but opportunism'

Even as Congress leaders from Navi Mumbai have gone rebellious by forming Navi Mumbai Vikas Alliance, Thane District Guardian Minister and sitting legislator from Belapur Ganesh Naik refused to even consider it as rebellion since the candidates have not yet filed the nomination papers. "I will not call it rebellious, because they have not filed the nomination papers and even after filing the papers, they can withdraw the same. If these people stick to their stand even after withdrawal date, then I will consider them as rebels," Naik said. He also said the people believing in party values will not take such steps since high commands of both the parties have taken seat sharing decision together. "Few days back, Navi Mumbai Congress leaders approached me to insist that I should be contesting from Airoli. I told them that they should express their opinion to their party high command and we will put forth our point of view to our party high command whose decision will be obligatory to us," added Naik. Similarly, he said if the seats would have gone to Congress, he would have not approved rebellion in Navi Mumbai NCP. "This decision is given by party high command and in alliance there is bound to be injustice on someone. Therefore, rebellion is not the solution. It's democracy and any one can contest the election either through some party or as an independent," Naik said.
When questioned about family dynasty being practiced in politics, Naik said, "Apart from creating their own identity, both of my sons Sanjeev and Sandeep have worked for party and on basis of that social work, Sandeep has demanded ticket. Now, it's up to the party bosses to decide whether he is eligible for the same. However, we will support the candidate which will be fielded by the party."

Ganesh Naik recalled his days with the members of the north Indian community which started when he was 20 years old and was with the Shiv Sena party. Also present for this occasion was MP Dr Sanjeev Naik who was felicitated for his work and achievements. Speaking to the media Major J P Singh said that this meeting was organized to understand the problems and meet up and solve them.

It’s going to be NCP’s Ganesh Naik versus BJP’s Suresh Haware for the Belapur constituency

It’s official. NCP party has nominated the sitting MLA Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik from Belapur constituency while BJP has given the candidature to famous city builder Suresh Haware. That leaves only the declaration of the NCP candidate, which many believe is going to be Sandeep Naik.

The battle-lines are more or less drawn all over the State for the State Assembly Polls on October 13. its official that the 151, Belapur constituency is all set to witness a straight fight between Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik as the NCP candidate and the city builder Suresh Haware is the BJP candidate. In a recent interview, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had expressed his will to contest from Belapur seat.

Even in Airoli, Vijay Chougule of Shiv Sena is all set to take on the Congress-NCP alliance candidate, which though not officially declared in all its probability will be NMMC Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep Naik.
The Belapur seat fell in NCP’s kitty as the Congress leaders had no credibility and credentials to impress the high commands in terms of voters or work done in comparison to Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik. Even if one were to go by numbers in the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the comfortable lead of Sanjeev Naik of NCP in the recent Lok Sabha polls then – In Belapur, out of 46 wards, the NCP has 26 seats while the Congress has 11. In Airoli out of the 42 wards, the NCP has 31 seats while the Congress has just 4. Sanjeev Naik has a lead of over 19000 votes in Belapur against his nearest Shiv Sena rival Vijay Chougule and over 14000 votes in Airoli. However, Vishwarath Nayar feels in assembly elections that both Belapur and Airoli seats are equally tough and equally easy. And what about the independents? They won’t play any decisive role in the electoral results says Vishwarath Nayar. In both the seats, it is going to be the ability as a leader, work done factor and promises in the future that will decide who will be the voter’s choice of MLA from Belapur and Airoli.
