Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had initiated the drive to provide additional FSI to all the slum-dwellings of Navi Mumbai, developing them into multi-storyed buildings. Speaking to Media the Minister informed that the he would take out the final decision on this prior to the state winter session.
CIDCO which is the planning body of Navi Mumbai failed to provide rehabilitation to the families who were replaced during the development of the city years ago. These families constructed their own houses then and many slums erupted in the city. Standing up for these families and to provide them with legal houses, Thane Guardian Minister Ganesh Naik had demanded to provide additional FSI to slum and gaothan areas. For this purpose, a survey was even conducted in Bonkande village, a report of which was sent to the Chief Minister. This had come as a ray of hope for these families with the Minister stating that the final decision of this would come prior to the state winter session.
